Warframe...on the switch!?

Warframe on the Switch....this is what’s taken me two days to try and get my words onto paper for this article.

Let’s backtrack a second. On Saturday July 7th Digital Extremes, the team behind the game Warframe had their third annual one day convention, TennoCon. This is an annual event that brings the Warframe community and Digital Extremes together to celebrate Warframe, and they often have announced what is coming up next for the game. I was watching as personally I’m a fan of the game, wanting to see what was coming up...then this happens

I’m left sat there stunned. As a fan of Warframe, it was one of the games that had been on my wish list of games that would come to the switch, but wasn’t sure if it would...but now it’s been revealed that it is.

Let’s pause for a second and watch the proper trailer.

So yes Warframe, the free to play cooperative space ninja game is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Digital Extremes are working with Panic Button Games to bring it to the platform. Panic Button have also brought Rocket League, Doom and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus to the Switch, so we now this is in good hands.

It will be interesting to see how this works, currently there isn’t cross play or account sharing between the current Warframe platforms (Due to PC version being ahead of the console versions), but who knows what magic will get pulled out of the hat with this. To see some of the games I’d never thought I would see on the Switch, this console continues to surprise me with what developers manage to get from it.

Currently we do not have a date for Warframe on Switch, but I’m sure we’ll hear more in the back half of the year.

For a free to play game, they really do keep raising the bar with Warframe, and I cannot wait to check out the other reveals from TennoCon. On that note, I’ll be bringing an article out in the next few days with more on the reveals...including a very very catch musical intro to part of the next expansion.
